In 2015, Ceramic Industries, through our partnership with DreamFields and the Italtile Ceramic Foundation, began investing in young lives at Setlabotjha Primary School as part of the Ceramic Industries Programme in the Vaal.
One of the very first children to join the programme was a young boy full of talent, determination, and a dream.
On 25 June in Mexico, that same young boy, Thapelo Maseko, now a man, proudly represented Bafana Bafana on football's biggest stage. He delivered a memorable performance, scoring South Africa's first goal and earning the Man of the Match award.
His journey is a powerful reminder of what is possible when young people are given opportunities, guidance, and the belief that their dreams matter.
At Ceramic Industries, we believe that investing in grassroots sport is about more than developing footballers; it's about empowering young people, building character, creating opportunities, and inspiring future generations.
Thapelo's story is proof that today's dreams can become tomorrow's reality. We are incredibly proud to have played a small part in the beginning of his journey and remain committed to helping many more young South Africans realise their full potential.
Congratulations, Thapelo. You have made your community, your country, and everyone who believed in you incredibly proud.
